Born in 1959 in Courtaillac, Belgium, Anne Demeulemeester first came to prominence as one of the "Antwerp Six" in 1986 when she and five other graduates of the Academy showed their work at an exhibition in London.
In 2013, Anne Demeulemeester resigned as designer, and Sébastien Meunier, who had worked as Anne Demeulemeester's menswear assistant, was appointed artistic director.
